Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 4, 2026
Last updated: November 4, 2026

The Institute of Massage & Performance (“IMP,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) explains in this Privacy Policy how we handle personal information collected through instituteofmassageandperformance.com, our forms, communications, applications, course registrations, online purchases, and student clinic bookings. It also explains how to contact us about your information.

This policy supplements any specific privacy notices provided for enrollment, educational records, clinic intake, or third-party services. It does not replace a separate notice or authorization required by law.

1. Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with IMP:

  • Inquiries and communications: your name, email address, telephone number, topics of interest, messages, and records of our responses.
  • Applications and enrollment: your address, date of birth and age, education and employment history, program interests, payment-plan selections, application documents, signature, and enrollment-related records.
  • Optional statistical information: demographic, education, employment, military, and disability information you choose to provide where requested. Questions identified as optional may be left unanswered.
  • Health and accommodation information: health conditions, allergies, injuries, pregnancy information, accommodation requests, and other information you provide on an application or clinic intake form. These details may be sensitive personal information.
  • Emergency contacts: the name and contact information of a person you designate. Please provide another person’s details only when you have authority to do so.
  • Orders, appointments, and accounts: billing and contact details, purchases, selected courses, appointment dates, payment status, transaction identifiers, and account or learning-platform activity where applicable.
  • Communication preferences: subscription choices, SMS opt-ins, consent records, and unsubscribe or opt-out requests.
  • Website activity: IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referral sources, approximate location derived from an IP address, and cookie or similar identifiers.

We receive information directly from you, automatically through our website and its service providers, and from providers that help us process payments, manage bookings, communicate, or deliver educational services. Payment details are handled by the processor identified at checkout, which may include Stripe. We may receive transaction confirmations and limited payment details; please do not send full card numbers through a general contact form or email.

2. How we use information

  • Answer questions and provide requested information, including our career guide.
  • Review applications, communicate admissions decisions, administer enrollment, and maintain educational records.
  • Register participants for workshops, process payments, provide course access, and support customers and students.
  • Schedule and manage clinic appointments, collect relevant intake information, and support appropriate accommodations and safe participation.
  • Send confirmations, reminders, service updates, and other communications connected with your requests or transactions.
  • Send news or promotional messages consistent with your preferences and any required consent.
  • Operate, maintain, protect, and improve our website and services; prevent misuse and fraud; maintain consent records; and meet legal, accounting, educational, and regulatory obligations.

Optional statistical information is used for the educational reporting purposes described on the application. Health and accommodation information is used for relevant application, participation, accommodation, and clinic purposes. This policy is not, by itself, consent to process sensitive information or to receive marketing. Any consent required by applicable law must be obtained separately.

3. When information is disclosed

We disclose information as reasonably needed for the following purposes:

  • Service delivery: hosting, website maintenance, form storage, email and SMS delivery, customer support, scheduling, payment processing, and learning-platform providers may process the contact, transaction, technical, or other information needed for their work. Our site uses WordPress and WooCommerce, links to Kajabi for student login, and embeds a LeadConnector booking service.
  • School and clinic operations: authorized personnel, instructors, and supervised student clinicians may access relevant information needed for their responsibilities. Sensitive records should be limited to those who need them for the applicable purpose.
  • Legal and professional requirements: information may be provided to regulators, educational or licensing authorities, professional advisers, or others when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, investigate misuse, or respond to valid legal process.
  • Business changes: information may be transferred in a merger, reorganization, or transfer of the school or its assets, subject to applicable law and the protections described here.
  • Your direction: we may disclose information when you request it or provide a separate authorization.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not disclose health information, sensitive application information, or SMS consent records to advertising partners for their own marketing.

Mobile information and SMS opt-in data are not shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Providers that deliver messages or support our messaging program may process this information solely to perform those services for IMP. Disclosures required by law remain permitted.

4. Cookies, analytics, and embedded services

Cookies and similar technologies help the site operate, maintain shopping carts and login sessions, remember preferences, protect forms, and understand usage. Technologies and providers can vary by page. Embedded booking tools, payment services, maps, videos, and linked platforms may receive device and usage information when you interact with them.

Where analytics or advertising tools are enabled, they may collect browser identifiers and information about visits or interactions to measure performance or support relevant advertising. Any such use is subject to applicable consent and opt-out requirements and the restrictions on sensitive and SMS information above.

You can manage cookies through your browser and use any privacy controls displayed by the relevant service. Blocking cookies may affect shopping, login, or booking functions. Contact us to request an applicable advertising or data-disclosure opt-out. Where required by law, valid universal opt-out signals, including Global Privacy Control, must be honored. A browser’s “Do Not Track” setting is a separate signal and is not a substitute for these choices.

5. Email, telephone, and text choices

You may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link in the message or by contacting us. Administrative messages about an application, enrollment, purchase, or appointment may still be necessary.

Providing a telephone number does not automatically enroll you in marketing texts. Where you opt in to IMP text messages, you can reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Marketing consent is not a condition of purchase, application, enrollment, or service. Details appear in our Terms of Service.

You may also contact us to change communication preferences or request that promotional calls stop.

6. Retention and security

We retain information for the time reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including providing services, maintaining student and transaction records, meeting legal retention requirements, handling disputes, and honoring opt-outs. Retention periods vary by record type. Information no longer needed is deleted, de-identified, or otherwise disposed of as appropriate.

We use reasonable safeguards intended to protect personal information. No online service or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Send health details only through the application or intake process intended for them, and contact IMP if you need an appropriate way to provide sensitive documents.

7. Privacy requests and rights

Depending on your location, the law’s applicability, and relevant exceptions, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of your information, correct it, request deletion, withdraw consent, or opt out of sales, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. You may also have a right to appeal a decision and to exercise your rights without unlawful discrimination.

Email info@instituteofmassageandperformance.com with the subject Privacy Request, or contact us using the details below. Explain the request and provide enough information to identify the relevant records. Do not include sensitive documents unless we request them through an appropriate method. We may verify your identity or an authorized agent’s authority where permitted and necessary. You do not need to create a new account to make a request.

Where the New Jersey Data Privacy Law applies, we will respond within 45 days, with an additional 45 days when legally permitted and after providing the required notice. To appeal, email the same address with the subject Privacy Request Appeal and explain why you disagree. Where that law applies, we will provide an appeal decision within 45 days and, if denied, explain how to contact the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. Some records may need to be retained for legal, educational, transaction, or other permitted purposes.

8. Children and third-party services

Our general website and marketing are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information online without legally required parental authorization. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted information inappropriately. Eligible minors may need a parent or guardian’s involvement for particular programs or services.

Linked websites and independently operated third-party services have their own privacy practices. Review their notices when using them. Providers may process information in the United States or other locations in which they operate, subject to applicable requirements.

9. Updates and contact

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, practices, or legal requirements. We will change the date above and provide additional notice of material changes where required. If a change requires new consent, an updated policy alone does not provide that consent.
